Hey! Loving my new car but having real issues charging automatically with cheap nighttime tariffs and my Ohme home pro smart wall charger

Can anyone guide me with settings that will save me having to get up in the middle of the night every day to turn on manually?

Hi, new the forum. Had my scenic just over a week now and love it but charged it 3 times overnight with my Ohme pro and it only worked once. The other two times I had to set my alarm for midnight to check it was charging. It wasn’t! But when I unlocked and locked the car it started charging. I have since read that if you have a schedule set in the car/app, this conflicts with Ohmes app and means it won’t charge. I have knocked the programme off in the car and set the Ohme app to charge to 80% tonight, I will update with result. Needless to say, my alarm is set for midnight!

Oh and I also read that taking you tariff off the app helps. So just schedule the charge between the cheap electricity rate as normal but don’t tell if what that rate is. Might try this if it doesn’t work tonight.

So, didn’t work! Woke up and checked the Ohme app, not charging. Looked out at the car, not charging. Went onto the Renault app, turned programmes on, starts charging! I think it did this just like when I have unlocked and locked the car and it started charging. Bit sick of this now. Just want to be able to set a charge and go to bed, waking up to find it’s charged, not to have to wake up at midnight to check it!

So, after going back and forth to Ohme and getting nowhere I decided to speak to the company that fit the charger and see if they had any ideas and guess what, they did! After a 5 min conversation they told me to try knocking everything off on the Ohme app, so no smart charging/scheduling etc and then put a charging programme on the car. Basically the car is asking the charger for the charge and not the other way round. So I got home and tested this and as soon as I plugged it in it flashed white and went solid blue for the first time since having it, meaning the car had a scheduled charge planned. I was excited as thought this might work and it did. Now completed two overnight charges using this method on my scenic and my wife’s Megane and both charged with no issue. All you need to do is set your limit on the car so ours are to 80% and it shuts down once it gets there regardless how long is left between the cheap rate times. Happy days! I can now have a full nights sleep without having to get up in the middle of the night. Hope this might help others.

Tried this method with my wifes Megane last night, woke up this morning and still on the same charge. Must be doing something wrong, plugged the car in at 7.00pm, programmed the charge on the renault app to start at 12.00am-05.00am, got the white then blue light then no lights after about 5 mins. thought that would do it, but woke up this morning to the same charge in the car as 7.00pm the night before. any ideas please?? I've got the standard unteathered Ohme charger which runs with the ohme app, it did ask me to approve the charge when I pluged it in, I've deleted all programs in the Ohme app. Help needed as i have to stay away until 12.00 every night to start the charging which is doing my head in.

I don’t understand why that hasn’t worked as the blue light means the car knows there is a charge programmed. Have you turned of the price cap? Mine says disabled. I have noticed that this method does sometimes start at 11:59 so maybe yours has and because the price cap is enabled, the car hasn’t been able to draw the charge and stopped the programme.

Check and see if your price cap is disabled or enabled.

I would try programming a charge in the morning for 5 mins and see if this works once you have disabled to price cap.

Thanks Scenicroute, took your advice and disabled the "Price Cap" and programmed through the stop time through the My Renault app (5.00am). hey presto! it worked..........you would think that Ohme would sort that glitch out, I do like the Ohme App as it gives you valuable data in terms of how much it's cost you for a week/month/year to charge. One confussing aspect is that when the Ohme app works out the schedule charge cycle, looks like it does a couple of trickle charges before your planned start time (12.00am-05.00am) doesnt look like it costing much though. Thanks anyway.

That’s great news as I know how frustrated I was becoming not having it charge over night. Even with the price cap disabled, if you have you tariff rate imputed in the Ohme app it still gives you the cost of the charge.
